Black Cases (Summer 2021)

In Black Cases we meet Antoine Flowers, a 17-year-old African American teen. Setoff in the “Now I lay me” prayer said by many children, his journey bespeaks of the night his innocence was lost as he sort to defend his mother during a domestic dispute with her boyfriend. Even deeper, his narrative addresses the environmental and societal factors that precipitated this event in coming to be. Viewers are left to grapple with many questions, the main one being was it anger or trauma at play that night?

TRAILERS

The invitation

The Invitation, is not only an offering to those who would benefit from knowing more about auto-immune diseases, especially women who constitute 75% of the one in five Americans who have it.  It is also an invitation to those who have the disease to take control of their lives and ultimately thrive. The film weaves interviews of four women interspersed with narratives and images of them in their disease stages, from diagnosis to treatment and moving into recovery.
Their disease progressions portray problems commonly associated with medical care including misdiagnoses, negative messaging from healthcare providers, and medical interventions devoid of holistic alternatives and empowerment.
